Young Justice is an animated show about the sidekicks of the superheroes from Justice League.

------

- Robin. Regret. It aches. -

M’gann looks up from her attempt at apple pie and glances to her left. Wally is sitting hunched over at the opposite end of the metal counter, staring blankly at his half chewed hot dog. This was seriously unusual for the speedster.

- Robin. -

She hears the soft whisper again; not out loud, but in her head. She frowns at the red head.

“Wally…?” she asks tentatively, floating closer.

He seems to register her voice and slowly looks up at M’gann’s concerned face. Wally quickly breaks into a lop-sided grin, like he was caught doing something dirty.

“Hey Megan, baby. How you doin’?”

He winks at her.

“Wally… Wha—Do you feel okay?”

The speedster’s grin falters for half a second but then it grows wider.

- Pain. -

“I’m peachy fine. Seriously.”

“But you haven’t even finished your meal,” M’gann gestures to the plate.

Wally squints down at his frankfurter, grabs it with flash speed and shoves it all into his mouth.

“I’b jash tihar,” Wally tries to speak with his cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk.

“…..You’re just tired? Um. Okay,” M'gann started to say, "But-"

"Megan, really. Im fine. Please." Wally's eyes stare at her with a sense of desperation, but he still had a smile plastered on his face.

“O-okay.”

-----

“Hey Megan,” Robin took a slightly warm chocolate chip cookie from Megan’s first batch.

“I’m going to go back to Gotham for a few days. Can you tell the team for me?”

M’gann blinks for a few seconds.

“Uh… Megan?” A questioning look on Robin’s face.

“O-oh! Huh? Oh right! Sure thing, Robin!” M’gann grinned brightly, a sudden brilliant plan forming in her head. “Hello, Megan!”

Maybe… finally, Wally will be at peace.

“By the way, Megan,” the young sidekick begins “these cookies? Totally fective.”

Robin snatches up another cookie and munches, crumbs falling from his lips.

-----

“Um… hey… Wally?”

Wally looks up from his Science Now! magazine and breaks into grin.

“’Sup Rob!” he replies back cheerfully.

He stops, and stares suspiciously at the younger boy

“Wait, I thought you were in Gotham?”

“Well… the funny thing is… looks like Batman doesn’t need me…” Robin smiles sheepishly, “I mean! He does! Just, not at this moment.”

“Uhh… sure,” Wally raises one eyebrow, “You feeling okay, bro?”

“Y-yes! Why are you asking if I’m okay?” Robin squeaks out, “I’m soooo okay. Trust me.”

“Suuuuuuuure.” Wally shrugs it off, “well, since we’re both free, wanna play some video games? “

“G-games? Uh—I mean, yes!”

Wally gets out the gaming station and with his back facing Robin, he smiles gently.

His feelings are strong, Robin thinks.

----

“Hey Wally…”

“Hrmm? Oh my go- Robin! You could have taken that shot! Dude!”

“No, Wally…”

“AHHHH. STOP DYING. JEEZ.” Wally keeps yelling at the screen, “motherf- That guy was so camping!”

“Wally…”

“That’s it! I’m hard-scoping back.” Wally keeps his eyes on the TV, concentrating on shooting everything that moves. “These noobs are so going down!”

Robin inches closer to the older boy. He puts down the controller beside him.

“ManRobinJesusyoukeepgettinggankedwhythehel— mmmph!”

Robin has one hand on the speedster’s chest and the other on his cheek, his lips softly pressed on Wally’s.

- Confusion. –

Wally stays rooted to his spot on the sofa, eyes wide open is shock. Just as quickly as it happened, Robin breaks the kiss and stares at Wally with a red face (though there is a tinge of green around his ears). His sunglasses hiding most of his expectant expression.

Three seconds pass. Five. Ten.

A thousand different emotions seem to flicker in the speedster’s gaze, but he remains motionless.

Twenty seconds pass. He starts to open his mouth.

- Why? -

Robin lets out a high pitch squeak, suddenly gets up from his seat and before Wally could stop him, runs from the room.

The automatic door shuts behind the boy wonder as his hair fades from a jet black colour to a bright red.

----

Ahhh… I couldn’t hold the transformation any longer, the martian girl thinks to herself as she quickly floats away from Kid Flash’s room, I should really practice more.

Her face is still burning with embarrassment and adrenaline.

----

Wally is hunched over his seat, picking at his plate of macaroni and cheese that M’gann quickly made for him. The green girl sitting on the sofa, watching a soap opera playing on soft volume.

Robin waltzes into the spacious kitchen non-chalantly.

“What’s up, KF?” Robin grins at the older boy, eyes lighting up behind his dark sunglasses, “Missed me?”

Wally shoots up from his seat, knocking over the full dish to the other side of the counter.

“Ro- Wha- Um,” he stutters, eyes wildly looking around the room, “I um— I have to go, bye!”

“Wha—“

Robin gives the lingering dust cloud a quizzical look and shrugs.
