Brave New World
Genre: Crossover, Angst, Fluff, Gen
Series: Batman & Robin (comics)/Young Justice Animated
This fanfiction is centered around Damian, the biological son of Batman and the current Robin (protegee of Batman). He has been thrown into the Young Justice (animated series) universe through an energy beam that was blasted at him. He then wakes up in an alleyway and is met by 'the Young Justice' team. As there is another 'Robin' in this universe, he is treated with suspicion and contempt by the team members and it is no wonder since he is very hostile and aggressive towards them. Suddenly the 'other Robin' gets kidnapped as well as the 'other Batman'. It's up to Damian to save the day.
The author of this fanfiction has really great structure and understanding of writing a good story. I was hooked by the first sentence. I loved how he/she portrays Damian's character. I'm usually very picky when people write about my favourite characters so I fully appreciate it when people write in character. The dialogue is really witty and funny. The bickering between the team members of Young Justice and Damian are believable and exactly what I would think the characters would say to each other.

Control
Genre: Angst, Gen, Fluff
Series: Young Justice Animated
This author delves into the possibility of Wally West (Kid Flash) having domestic violence and psychologically damaging at home. This would explain why Wally keeps momentos and wants to be in control. 'Control' picks apart Wally's life as a 'normal' human being. On the outside, his team mates believe he lives in a normal house with normal parents. But in reality, Wally's father treats him like an object and his mother is in denial and ignores Wally's dilemma. Ever since he gained his powers a few years ago, his arents never treated him as their true son.
Though this fic is still ongoing and ergo, not finished; It made me really feel for Wally and his situation. Even though this is not canon, I thought it was brilliant how the author created the scenarios with his father and mother. There is lots of tension with all his relationships: with his team members, his best friend and his mentors. Certain moments really pull at my heartstrings. The author has made each scene believable, like as though how a teenage boy with superpowers would react.

Frantic
Genre: Pick-your-own-ending (angst, fluff or bro), Slash
Series: Young Justice Animated
This one is a bit fast-paced and raunchy. Though this was really brilliant, I thought the writer could have improved on making the sentences shorter - I felt some sentences were a bit long-winded.
The story had three endings which you could read. I think this was a really clever method of storytelling. The author repeated the first sentence, but completely wrote a new scenario for each ending. One was an angst ending, one was a fluff ending and one was ended on a bromance note.

On my Honor, I will do my Best
Genre: Fluff, Comedy, Gen
Series: Young Justice Animated
Superboy learns that Superman was a 'boyscout' and sets about to become just like him. This story is mostly done in Superman's point of view.
The author is very clever to put in boyscout references throughout the fanfiction.
Some parts were a bit confusing though because the author kept the switching point of views. I felt the story dragged a bit too long though, as interesting as the concept was, I really couldn't keep up until the end and I kept skipping sentences.

Trials and Tribulations (or, The Art of Babysitting)
Genre: Comedy, Fluff, Gen
Series: Young Justice Animated
This is possibly the cutest story I have ever read. It involves the Young Justice team turning into little kids and an ex- superhero team mate has to go and look after them. While he looks after the younger ones, the older 'Justice League' superheroes have to go out and defeat the villian responsible.
This story was really good. I like how descriptive the author was. The portrayal of the characters as though they were young children was really amusing and I really could see them as kids.

Face Up and Sing
Genre: Angst, General
Series: Young Justice Animated
Though this fanfiction was an enjoyable read, I felt the author has put too much dialogue into the piece. The characterization of Batman, Superman and Superboy was done really well and in character, but I felt that her 'Ma Kent', Superman's mother was a bit off. Also halfway through, I began to feel slightly bored of the writing.

Pretty Bird
Genre: Angst, Genderswap (male to female), General
Series: Young Justice Animated
I felt this story was an excellent read but sometimes I could not follow what was happening. The concept is great: Robin wants to become a girl and this story shows how he transforms himself into one. I think I could not follow it because it seemed like it was jumping to and from scenarios a bit too much and not a lot of describing.
This sentence spoken by Batman, - He lets out the barest hint of a sigh. "No. You're my... daughter. Whatever happens. We'll be fine. - hit home for me. I felt it was a good way to end the fanfiction.

Please, Sir, May I Have Some Itty Bitty Stalker Timmy?
Genre: Fluff, Comedy, Crossover, Alternate Universe
Series: Young Justice Animated / Red Robin
Cute and hilarious. This little piece was way too short, this story really left me wanting to read more! This story is a cross-over with a comic character from Red Robin. I love how the author really knows his comic universe and not just the animated series. His Tim portrayal was really spot on. I really wanted to go into the story and just hug little Timmy.

Five Times Wally Couldn't Drive and One Time He Could
Genre: Comedy, General
Series: Young Justice Animated
This story is in the 'five times + one time' format popular on livejournal's popular 'fanfiction anonymous memes'. This is where the author writes about a subject in 5 different times or incidents that the character fails in doing, and one time he/she succeeds. In this case, recounting 5 times in which Wally could not drive and one time he did.
This was a really short and fun read. It is really humourous and in character. I can totally see Wally learning how to drive and his reactions to his driving.
The only thing that bothered me was how the author had set up each 'chapter'. Using 'xxonexx' , 'xxtwoxx', 'xxthreexx', etc was not visually appealing. When I read a story, I like the paragraphs and dialogues to be well spaced out and clear to read.

The Kissing Factor
Genre: Fluff, Slash, Het
Series: Young Justice Animated
This is another '5 times they did, and one time' they didn't kind of format. I liked how the author uses different pairings to use for kisses. She uses different types of kisses and describes them really well. Though I am a bit iffy about 'girl and girl' pairings, I thought that kiss was the best written.
